Qualifications

My Medical Background, Qualifications and Acknowledgments:

Following my medical studies at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, I first worked for three and half years as an assistant physician in the Department of Internal Medicine (in the cardiology, nephrology/dialysis, hematology and rheumatology divisions) of the German Clinic for Diagnostics in Wiesbaden. After that I served as an assistant physician of psychiatry at the admission and observation wards of a large psychiatric clinic in Bad Dürkheim (Klinik Sonnenwende).

In order to be able to establish my own practice, I then worked for six months as a so-called "establishment assistant" in a rural general practice.

I had begun my training in psychotherapy simultaneously with my medical training. In 1994, I received the additional designation "Psychotherapist" (for the treatment methods of psychotherapy based on depth psychology) from the Regional Chamber of Physicians of the Palatinate. I then began my training as a psychoanalyst. After this very extensive and protracted course of study I was finally, in 1999, awarded the additional designation "Psychoanalyst" from the Hessian State Chamber of Physicians.

In order to be able to settle accounts with statutory insurance companies, I applied for a health insurance license in 1995 and was able to establish myself as a so-called "panel physician" that same year. Although I am a specialist for general medicine, it was at this point that I hung up my doctor´s coat and began to practice psychotherapy exclusively. I have realized that the human mind and psychological relationships are much more fascinating to me than purely medical disease and its treatment.

Beginning in 1993, I have regularly given lectures at the Rhein-Eiffel Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (Annelise Heigl Evers Institute) and was accepted into the faculty of lecturers, teaching therapists and supervisors in 1995. I am responsible for leading and organizing the institute´s advanced training curricula, which plays a central role in the Rhein-Main area in training doctors and psychologists in psychotherapy. The Rhein-Eifel Institute is a state-accredited training institute in accordance with the psychotherapy law of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians as well as the State Chamber of Medicine.

Since 2002 I have additionally served as a supervisor and teaching analyst at the Southern German Academy for Psychotherapy, where I have been recognized at the state level as a teaching analyst and supervisor by the Bavarian Social Ministry (the responsible agency). Since 2012 I have also been a guest lecturer and supervisor at the Wiesbaden Academy for Psychotherapy (WIAP), and since 2016 additionally a lecturer at an institute for advanced training in behavioral therapy, the FIVE-App in Frankfurt. In the year 2004-2005 I received a teaching appointment in the department of psychology at the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences. Since 2009, I have been a regular lecturer and speaker at the "Erfurt Psychotherapy Week.“

In 1999 I received advanced training authorization for the acquisition of the area designation "Psychotherapy" (as part of a joint authorization with certified advanced training doctors at the Rhein-Eiffel Institute); in 2010, I also received advanced training authorization for the area designation "Psychoanalysis."

Since 1998, I have further served as an investigator on the audit committee of doctors and health insurers of the Hessian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, field of Psychotherapy.

I am a member of the Hessian Association of Panel Psychotherapists (VHVP), as well as the Federal Association of Panel Psychotherapists (BVVP), and the German Society for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, Psychosomatics and Neurology (DGPPN).

In the latter society I work with the unit for sport psychiatry and psychotherapy, which concerns itself with the psychological care, treatment and research of the emotional problems specific to competitive and high-performing athletes.

I am also a founding member of the "Ambulatory Network of Sport Psychiatry and Psychotherapy“(ANSPP), and the Deutschen Gesellschaft für Sportpsychiatrie und-psychotherapie (DGSPP)
which offer competitive and high-performing athletes psychological care and treatment close to their homes.

I am a supporting member of the nationally active association "Shadow and Light,“ which addresses emotional difficulties and illnesses like anxiety and depression during pregnancy as well as after the birth of a child (peripartum and postpartum disorders) by providing referrals for assistance and points of contact. This field is of special importance to me.

Finally, I am co-initiator of the physicians´network "mein-arzt-in-wiesbaden.de."
